2. Physical Hazards
Physical Hazards contaminate food and is normally caused by any foreign body that falls into food. Physical hazards in food creates the risk of cuts, choking, broken teeth and shock.
Examples of physical hazards are:

• Jewellery, and other items such as pen tops and torn latex
gloves from food workers.
•
• Hairs and finger nails falling into food.
•
• Nuts, Bolts and Screws, from food production machinery or as a
result of poor equipment maintenance.
•
• Wood splinters from wooden cutting boards and work surfaces.
•
• Glass fragments from broken containers.
•
• Paper clips and pins from noticeboards.
•
• Staples and paper from packaging.
•
• Rust or paint flakes from poorly maintained food premises.
•
• Pest debris such as mouse droppings.
