If you are ever called upon to administer First Aid you should follow the steps below:
Step 1 – Assess the Area
You should first of all assess the safety of the area in relation to the injured party. This is very important as you could inadvertently cause or be involved in another accident due to the area being unsafe.
Step 2 – Assess the Injured Person
You should then proceed to assess the injured party. Do they respond to your voice? Do they respond to a painful pinch. Perhaps the injured party is completely unresponsive. The outcome of these quick evaluations will tell you what to do next.
Step 3 – Call for Help
If you deem the injury to be a serious one you should immediately call for help or the Emergency Services. Once you have given them the location and details of the injured party you can administer First Aid.
Step 4 – Administer First Aid
The First Aid you administer will depend on the circumstances of the injured party. We will cover most of the common injuries during this course along with what to do if the injured party is completely unresponsive.
